Thiago Silva confirms PSG exit as Chelsea ‘expect to complete free transfer this week’
The 35-year-old will leave the French capital having played his last game in Sunday’s Champions League Final – a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Lisbon.
Silva has won 23 trophies in his eight years at the club but says he now needs a fresh challenge to help maintain his place in the national team set up.
He told RMC Sport following Sunday’s defeat: “It was my last match as a PSG player.
“I’m sad and I’ll be back with another role in future but I’ve to change. I want to play for another three or four years more and be part of Brazil team in Qatar World Cup.”
Reports on Sunday night have claimed Silva is expected to complete a move to Stamford Bridge over the coming days, with Frank Lampard eager to add an experienced option to a defence that conceded 54 Premier League goals last season.
While he did not directly address talk of a move to London, Silva did dismiss claims he has accepted an offer from Fiorentina.
He told Sky Sport Italia: “I’ve not accepted any bid. Reports of agreement reached with Fiorentina are not true.
“My agent is talking with Fiorentina as with other clubs. I’ll decide on next days with my family.”
