Squanch CEO Tanya Watson steps down

Trover Saves the Universe studio will see chief creative officer Justin Roiland take over CEO role

Squanch Games co-founder and CEO Tanya Watson today announced that she is stepping down from her role atop the studio.

In a post on Squanch’s official site, Watson said the studio, which is transitioning from VR-focused development to a more broad slate of titles, “turned the corner” in 2020 and is now “ready for its next direction.”

“It’s always difficult to do something that no one else is doing, pandemic or no,” Watson said. “But I can safely say that we are not just surviving, we are thriving. We, amongst all businesses, were extremely concerned at the beginning of the pandemic, but one good thing that came out of 2020 is that it has proven to be Squanch Games’ most successful year to date.”

Watson says she will continue to be an advisor and friend to the studio, but is “ready to figure out what’s next.”

Her co-founder at Squanch, chief creative officer Justin Roiland, will take over CEO duties starting next month.

Watson and Roiland founded Squanch in 2016. Prior to that, she had stints at Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios as an executive producer and a software development engineer, respectively.
