A number of the Bulldogs’ biggest names aren’t in action, with recruit Adam Treloar recovering from another soft tissue injury setback that could see him miss Round 1’s clash with Collingwood.
No.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is playing in a reserves game instead, while Aaron Naughton (corkie) and Jack Macrae ran with a modified group on Wednesday morning instead of featuring in the practice match.
Lachlan McNeil, a rookie draft pick from the SANFL, made an impressive start at high half-forward.
Ruck recruit Stefan Martin stayed in the middle for the Bulldogs while Tim English spent most of his game up forward.

Hawthorn has its own injury concerns with Chad Wingard suffering a calf setback in last week’s intraclub, and misses today along with Jack Scrimshaw (knee).
Tom Mitchell (shoulder reconstruction) is still recovering from off-season surgery while James Sicily (ACL) and Jack Gunston (back) are in the rehab group.
Off-season recruit Tom Phillips was sent into the guts of the midfield in the first quarter.
Hawks fans were left impressed by the performances of young duo Connor Downie (national draft pick 35 from Next Generation Academy) and Tyler Brockman (pick 46).
New Hawthorn captain Ben McEvoy was played purely as a ruckman with Jon Ceglar pushing forward and filling in for McEvoy when he rested.
The first 50-metre penalty for a man-on-the-mark infringement was paid in the final term with Marcus Bontempelli moving as James Cousins went to kick. The Hawk went on to goal.
