The new startup sound for the eagerly-anticipated PlayStation 5 appears to have been leaked by none other than Burger King.

The new console is out on November 12, with nearly all the pre-order bundles already out of stock.

Much has been revealed on what to expect of the PS5 from its scintillating graphics, cost, and appearance.

But one thing that has not yet been unveiled is what the startup sound will be – until now.

Fast-food chain Burger King appears to have leaked what to expect in an advert on Twitter.

It shows the “king” opening a takeout bag to reveal a blue light and catchy jingle.

He then walks out of shot as the date of “10/15” flashes up on screen – suggesting something will be announced tomorrow.

To further fuel rumours that the sound was what will be heard when the PS5 is switched on, PlayStation’s official account retweeted the video with the eyes and ear emoji.

More than 3.5 million people have seen the video since it was posted yesterday (October 13).

One joked: “Omg they’re selling PS5’s for the price of a whopper! I know that glow from anywhere.”

Another asked: “Did Sony just tease us with the system intro music?”

The PS5 is officially released to fans in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12.

But British gamers will have to wait another week to get their hands on the console, with its UK release date penned in as November 19.

The PS5 will be compatible with PS4 games, but unfortunately not with PS3, PS2 or PS1 games.

He told Japanese gaming mag Famitsu: “We keep in mind the engineering specialised for the PS5, as we produced the device.

“In the midst of that, the PS4 already has 100 million players; we thought they ought to want to play PS4 titles on the PS5 as well indeed, so we included compatibility with the PS4.

“While implementing that, we also focused our efforts on taking in the high-speed SSD and the new controller DualSense at the same time.

“So, unfortunately, we couldn’t reach the implementation of such compatibilities.”
