PlayStation 5 release date announcement may, finally, be on the horizon
The PlayStation 5 was announced back in June, and ever since Sony showed off the console, many people have been asking only two questions: how much will it cost, and when will it come out?
The next entry in Sony’s long line of home consoles, which people have said looks like an internet router (alongside less complimentary comparisons), has already won a place in people’s hearts – even though we don’t yet know how much it’s going to cost.
This week, a listing over on Amazon has appeared – sparking many people to believe that we’ll be getting a release date and/or price reveal soon.
Over on the German version of Amazon, a listing published is clearly a placeholder (though it does reveal that the console weighs in at an impressive 4.78kg)
Shortly after that, Amazon US got its own PS5 listing.
This one has a more rounded out listing with it: a rundown of models, features, and accessories can be found on that page.
Still though, no price and no formal release date. Can we expect a reveal soon?
Eurogamer news editor Tom Phillips suggested that Sony is planning to hold its own PS5 “State of Play” event in August, seemingly in order to win back some momentum after Xbox’s games presentation on July 23.
Phillips attached no source and hasn’t hinted at how he knows this though, so take it as conjecture for now.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more about Sony’s future plans.
