A man allegedly punched a police officer in the face before trying to flee from a NSW-Victoria vehicle checkpoint.
The 21-year-old man was travelling in the back seat of a car with a 22-year-old female driver and 25-year-old female passenger at the border crossing at Federation Way at Corowa at 4.50am on Saturday.
After the two women in the front seat gave identification and permits, police allege the Ashmont man gave false information to officers.
Police checks found the man was wanted on seven outstanding warrants, prompting his to try to escape from the check point.

He allegedly punched a senior constable in the face and knocked him to the ground before being arrested by police officers and defence force personnel at the site.
The man was taken to Corowa Hospital over concerns of drug ingestion, while the driver tested positive for methamphetamine.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized drug paraphernalia, with the driver having her licence suspended for 24 hours.
The senior constable was treated for bruising and facial swelling.
The man was taken to Corowa Police Station on release from hospital and charged with assault police in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty and his other outstanding warrants.
He was refused bail and will appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.
