Gladys Berejiklian stands firm as NSW Premier, Daryl Maguire appears at hearing
Former Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire is giving some unusual evidence at ICAC. He is being asked why the Chinese delegation who met with NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell in late 2012, at Mr Maguire’s request, was subsequently sent an invoice by his parliamentary staffer.
Nicole Hatton, who worked in Mr Maguire’s office, was asked to send an invoice on the letterhead of G8wayinternational, a company with which Mr Maguire had a secret association.
Counsel assisting ICAC, Scott Robertson, asks Mr Maguire why a parliamentary staff member was asked to do this.
“All I recall is there was a big kerfuffle about getting paid,” Mr Maguire said. “I know that the staff were very concerned that the accounts wouldn’t be paid.”
“It would have been totally improper for the parliament, me, to provide an invoice to the group.”
