Chamberfest to go ahead with Angela Hewitt livestream
Classical pianist Angela Hewitt will perform the final concert in her four-year Bach Odyssey on Oct. 24 at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre as originally scheduled, but the seats in the former church will be empty.
Because of last week’s return to Stage 2 restrictions in Ottawa, a COVID-19 hotspot, the concert will be livestreamed, organizers confirmed Thursday. The performance is part of Chamberfest’s fall series.
Tickets to the livestream are $20, available at chamberfest.com. You can also buy a pass to the remaining three concerts in the series.
Hewitt, the internationally renowned, Ottawa-born musician, began her mission to play all of J.S. Bach’s works for piano in 2016. The music was divided into a series of 12 recitals, and has been performed in cities around the world.
The final instalment features Bach’s lengthy and complex The Art of the Fugue.
