Castle Mountain Resort overcomes challenges during COVID-19 pandemic

There are a lot of things that ski resorts can control, even during a pandemic.

A ski area like Castle Mountain Resort can put strict measures in place to keep its guests safe. Stuff like mandatory online bookings for lift tickets and a limited guest capacity or strongly recommending that skiers and snowboarders retreat to their vehicles when they need to warm up or take a break.

Castle Mountain’s done all of that – and much, much more – but when it comes to a perfect day on the slopes, the Southern Alberta resort relies on Mother Nature to help out a little bit.

And so far this season, she’s been awfully kind.

“Things are going really well. I don’t want to say remarkably well, but maybe I should,” said Cole Fawcett, marketing manager at Castle. “The snowfall’s been a little bit better than average. Not exceptionally better, but good, and temperatures have been moderate.

“I think in a period of time where there’s such limited indoor space for our guests to utilize and every resort is kind of coaching their guests to consider using their vehicles instead of the day lodge, the fact that those moderate temperatures have been a thing has been really, really helpful.”
