Calgary’s Oh wins Alberta Senior Men’s Golf Championship
Calgary’s Grant Oh is putting on a show at the provincial golf championships this summer.
A member at Silver Springs, Oh sizzled to a three-shot victory last week at the Alberta Senior Men’s Championship in Olds.
That triumph continues a special season, which also included his first career hole-in-one at the annual mid-amateur showdown.
Oh completed three spins of Olds Golf Club in 8-under 68, closing with a stretch of birdie-par-birdie-birdie to ensure that nobody could catch him.
“My first time winning this event, it feels awesome,” Oh told Alberta Golf after the final round. “I wanted to come today and have a good solid round and not feel like I gave it away, and I accomplished that so it feels really good.”
Meanwhile, Christopher Lefaivre will also be clearing a spot on his mantle for a new trophy.
Lefaivre finished four strokes clear of the competition at the 103rd edition of the Calgary Golf Association’s City Amateur.
The Priddis Greens member established himself near the top of the leaderboard with an opening-round rip of 1-under 70, then followed up with a 69 before the action shifted from Highwood to Bearspaw. There weren’t a lot of low scores on the weekend, but Lefaivre was oh-so-steady with back-to-back laps of 2-over 73 to clinch the title.
