Calgary’s Amen Ogbongbemiga declares himself ready for pro football
Amen Ogbongbemiga is going pro.
The Calgary football product declared his intentions for the NFL and CFL Drafts late Saturday and thanked his teammates for a successful career with the NCAA’s Oklahoma State Cowboys.
“I’m blessed to be in the position I am and to have the opportunity to make such an impactful decision in my life,” tweeted the highly skilled inside linebacker who starred with Calgary’s Notre Dame High School. “Over the last month, I have taken the time to weigh each scenario in order to determine what is best for me.
“One thing about me is I’m a hard worker, and I’m motivated by the prospect of accomplishing more and achieving great things. I came to the conclusion that no matter which direction I go, what I put into it is up to me.”
If that direction isn’t the NFL — which he tweeted is his “lifelong dream” — he’ll be welcome with open arms back home by CFL teams. In October, Ogbongbemiga was ranked second on the CFL Scouting Bureau’s top-20 prospects for the three-down loop’s draft.
