Spaniard Paula Badosa has confirmed she’s tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first Australian Open player to record an actively infectious result while in hard lockdown.

Italian journalist Luca Fiorino on Thursday night reported on Twitter that a player that had travelled on a flight to Australia from Abu Dhabi had tested positive for COVID-19, six days after their arrival into Melbourne.

The Herald Sun then reported the player was female and was on the same flight that Sylvain Bruneau, the coach of 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, revealed he tested positive on.
