Arsenal are the only solution to Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho problem, according to reports.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Brazilian over the past few months, but have prioritised signing Willian.

Willian confirmed he would be leaving Chelsea this month, and has reportedly already completed a medical at Arsenal ahead of signing a three-year contract.

Arsenal aren’t blessed with huge funds, meaning a deal for Coutinho is very unlikely.

But according to Spanish publication Sport, via Sport Witness,Barcelona see Arsenal as the perfect solution to their ‘two-way problem’.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho

The report claims that Coutinho has decided he doesn’t want to play for Barcelona anymore – the first problem – and wants to join a new club when he returns from Bayern Munich.

It adds that Barcelona want to lower their wage bill – the second problem – and need a club to come forward to take him off their hands.

This is where Arsenal come in, as even a loan move would solve both problems.

But Mirror Sport understands that the Gunners have already turned down the opportunity to sign Coutinho.

Willian is set to sign for Arsenal this month

Willian was always the favoured signing, and a man who is set to pen wages worth £150,000-a-week at the Emirates.

Former Liverpool midfielder Coutinho is currently in Portugal with his Bayern Munich team-mates.

He was on the bench as Bayern battered Chelsea in the Champions League on Saturday, and is fully focused on winning the competition this season.
