Yunus Musah’s departure from Arsenal “hurt” former Gunners boss Unai Emery, it has been claimed. Musah joined Arsenal’s academy seven years ago from Italian side Giorgione Calcio 2000.

The midfielder, however, decided to move to pastures new in July 2019, opting to join Spanish giants Valencia.

Musah’s departure reportedly came as a huge shock to then Gunners boss Unai Emery, who reportedly had plans to utilise him in what turned out to be his final season at the Emirates helm.

Spanish outlet Marca claim Musah’s “unexpected’ departure was a “stabbing” for the Spaniard, who is said to have held him in very high regard.

Musah’s decision to leave has paid divends as he’s managed to break into the Valencia fold, making four appearances so far for the Bats.

The 17-year-old is the first Englishman to ever play for the La Liga giants, who he’s yet to feature for this season.

Speaking after making his debut against Levante in September, Musah said: “The other players always help me, every day, to improve.

“I also want to improve, it’s just one game and more needs to be done.

“I want to thank everyone for helping me along the way, I hope to continue like this and improve every day.

“It’s incredible, I just wanted to enjoy, is what the coach told me, enjoy and work hard, as I know how to do.

“It was a very good experience, I enjoyed it a lot and also with the luck of winning the game.”

Musah isn’t resting on his laurels and intends to keep on working until he becomes a first-team regular.

“I want to score more goals and be more consistent with my passes as well,” the England Under-18 international said.

“Sometimes in the game I can do so many good passes and one bad one, I want to correct that.”

Musah and his Valencia team-mates will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to the Estadio de la Ceramica to take on Valencia.
