Ariel Pink has officially been dropped by his longtime label Mexican Summer after the artist attended this week’s pro-Trump riots at the U.S. Capitol.
“Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and its staff have decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg AKA Ariel Pink moving forward,” a tweet from the label reads.

As previously reported, Ariel Pink and colleague John Maus were photographed in Washington, D.C., with TFW No GF filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer (Pink and Maus collaborated on the film’s soundtrack).
You can see Pink’s response below, as well as his simple tweet of “vote for trump.”
there’s photo and video documentation that you were at the event. whether you entered the building or not does not imply that u were not involved in the event. the instagram post referring to ur song expressed that u enjoyed today’s event and had fun along friends.

Ariel Pink has been no stranger to controversy over the years, with the artist accused of both sexist and racist behaviour. And while that never led to any real action by Mexican Summer, apparently him supporting Trump was seen as too much for the label.
