Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’s funniest pranks – Simon Cowell to Craig David
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’s reputation for the best pranks proceeds the show.
Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have enjoyed pranking the great and the good of the showbiz world over the years.
Their cheekiest and funniest pranks have involved stars including Richard Madeley, Craig David and Simon Cowell.
A lot of their highlights come from their segment Get Out Of Me Ear, where the presenters hide away while telling the celebrity what to do over an earpiece.
The Geordie duo teased there were a lot of “amazing outtake” moments that end up on the cutting room floor from the hilarious segment.
Last February, Dec said on Chris Moyles’ Radio X show: “There’s a lot of tape on the cutting room floor, let’s just say.”
Ant added: “We never want to make people look bad.
“We want to make them look uncomfortable and we want to make them squirm a little bit but what you don’t want is to just humiliate someone.”
Richard’s Get Out Of Me Ear segment was TV gold and one of the most hilarious moments in Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway history.
The funny scenes were filmed in 2015 and revisited again last year when Ant and Dec looked back at their best moments.
First Ant and Dec instruct Richard to swap shoes with the unwitting plumber who has the same size 11 feet.
What they do next left fans in hysterics.
In unbelievable scenes, over the ear piece Ant and Dec persuade Richard to put his foot into his swimming pool while still wearing the other man’s slipper.
The giggling presenters cannot believe their eyes when the Richard & Judy star falls into their trap.
Ant said: “Richard put your foot in with your slipper on.”
Richard told the unsuspecting man: “Have a feel. Yep! It’s lovely and warm.”
Ant said to Dec: “That’s that guy’s shoe!”
They erupt into a series of red-faced giggles.
Then Ant and Dec get the TV host to apologise to the man and urge him to “take revenge”.
When the man refuses, they instruct Richard to throw his own slipper into the pool.
Richard repeats Ant and Dec: “Oh my God I just realised I was wearing your slipper. It’s soaking. You can wet my slipper for revenge.
“I’ll tell you what. I’ll do it.”
Ant and Dec pranked Craig in one of the series funniest ever moments in their Get Out Me Ear segment.
The chart-topper was ordered to sing his housekeeping list to a potential house sitter he was interviewing.
His hit track 7 Days lyrics had been adapted to household chores to fit the situation.
He told the candidate: “So I do the weekly wash on a Monday, the bins go out on Tuesday.
“I change the bedsheets on Wednesday and then Thursday, Friday and Saturday and then I chill on Sunday.”
The unsuspecting potential interviewee doesn’t know how to react.
One of their earliest pranks has stood the test of time as one of the most amusing pranks they have pulled off on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Ant and Dec went incognito when they pretended to audition for American Idol in front of their TV pal Simon Cowell.
Wigs, fake accents and baggy clothes disguised the pair when they took to the floor pretending to be brothers who were rappers.
It was truly terrible.
They failed to impress the music mogul when they put on an energetic performance of Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract.
Ant and Dec had to work really hard to keep themselves from laughing before the big reveal.
Simon threw back his head with roaring laughter when Ant and Dec revealed their true identities and returned to their Geordie accents.
