After town hall wraps up, Biden sticks around to take questions from audience : politics
Years ago, when Biden was VP and they were still in their first term, Biden held and event here in Portland. I’m a stage hand, and the event was in one of my arenas, so I got to do the setup and tear down for it.
The tear down was scheduled for 8pm. We got there at like 7:45, had a smoke, milled about, and then went in to start tearing things down. Expect we couldn’t. Secret Service wouldn’t allow us in the massive hall, because Biden was still talking to people. So we sat. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited. And getting close to 10pm, the doors opened into the hall and Biden came out surrounded by Secret Service types.
But then he saw us, and he stopped. And he started asking us questions. Who we were, why we were here. We explained that we would be tearing down his event, and he instantly started to thank us, personally, for working his event. No one was forgotten, and everyone got a minute or two of direct interaction. Even those who froze up because they were meeting the Vice President of the United States.
And that’s why I like the guy.
